Afghanistan Earthquake
Over 3,000 killed, thousands injured, and around 6,700 homes destroyed
Eastern Afghanistan has been rocked by multiple strong earthquakes, leaving vast areas in ruin and communities deeply traumatized. The impact has been widespread: homes collapsed, infrastructure shattered, and families displaced without access to basic necessities. Many remote areas remain cut off, complicating relief efforts amid collapsing roads and ongoing aftershocks.
The human cost is immense. Over 3,000 lives have been lost and countless others are wounded across several provinces. Thousands of homes and shelters were destroyed or critically damaged, leaving many people sleeping outside in harsh conditions. Access to clean water, medical care, food, and hygiene supplies is severely limited.
ERD has launched an emergency response to reach the hardest-hit areas. We are distributing temporary shelters, blankets, hygiene kits, and food parcels. We are also collaborating with local networks to deliver medical support and coordinate logistics to reach isolated villages. Priority is being given to the most vulnerable: children, the elderly, and those with special needs.
This response forms the first phase in a longer process of healing and rebuilding. As we move forward, ERD’s programs in shelter, health, nutrition, and child protection will be activated to support recovery and help communities regain stability. Your support now accelerates relief, extends reach, and restores hope to families who have lost so much.
Your donation helps deliver support where it’s needed most.
