Afghanistan Hunger Crisis
Over 12 million Afghans face severe food insecurity and widespread malnutrition
Afghanistan is facing one of the world’s worst hunger emergencies. Years of conflict, economic collapse, drought, and displacement have left millions struggling to find enough food. Families across the country are skipping meals, selling belongings, or taking on debt just to survive.
According to the World Food Programme, more than 12 million people in Afghanistan are experiencing acute food insecurity, and 3.5 million children under five are suffering from malnutrition, including 1.4 million who are severely malnourished. With livelihoods destroyed and markets collapsing, many families are at risk of famine if support does not reach them soon.
ERD is responding to the crisis by providing emergency food parcels, nutrition supplements for children, and clean water access to affected communities. We are working with local partners to reach families in remote areas and ensure that aid is distributed efficiently and transparently.
As the crisis continues, ERD’s long-term programs in food security, health, and livelihoods will help families move from survival to stability. Your donation today helps prevent hunger from turning into famine and gives Afghan families a chance to rebuild their lives.
Your donation helps deliver support where it’s needed most.
